Environmental Permits Division

The Environmental Permits Division (EPD) implements and oversees most of the permitting programs for MDEQ. EPD also provides support to the Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Division (ECED) in regulating the permitted facilities.

Due to circumstances surrounding the state’s response to the COVID-19 situation, EPD has made certain additional information related to public notices available at this link. Please note – Public notice, Draft Permit, and Statement of Basis can be found on enSearch Online – Permits at Public Notice. If you have additional questions regarding the permit or notice, please contact staff listed in the public notice. To request additional documents, please contact our Public Records Request Officer.  To sign up to receive notification of any EPD public notices please visit our Public Notice Distribution webpage.

MDEQ has administratively continued the Baseline Stormwater General Permit For Industrial Activities issued on November 17, 2015.  The 2015 permit will remain in full force and effect until a replacement permit has been issued.  Coverage holder should comply with the requirements in the existing permit during this period.  When a replacement permit has been issued, coverage holders will receive a letter containing instructions for reapplying for coverage.

Do not submit recoverage applications for Baseline Stormwater General Permit coverages at this time.   Upon reissuance of the general permit, coverage holders will be notified with a copy of the new recoverage form and letter of instruction.
