MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Area of Coldwater


The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has lifted a general water contact advisory issued March 3 for areas around the Town of Coldwater in Tate County. The area of concern was around the town’s wastewater lagoon south of Highway 306 between Highway 51 and Interstate 55.  

MDEQ Lifts Four Beach Advisories 


The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted water contact advisories Wednesday for Stations 2, 3, 4, and 6. Six stations remain under an advisory.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued water contact advisories Friday for Stations 12A (Biloxi West Central Beach), 14 (Front Beach), and 15 (Shearwater Beach). Advisories remain in effect for Stations 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7A.

Administrator Pruitt Approves $26M to State of Mississippi for Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Activities


Yesterday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Scott Pruitt sent a letter to Mr. Gary Rikard, Executive Director of the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality and Designated Alternate for the Governor of Mississippi to the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council (RESTORE Council), announcing his approval of approximately $26 million for Gulf Coast restoration activities in Mississippi.
