The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued a water contact advisory today for a sampling station in Biloxi. This segment of beach is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in this area. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) awarded the City of Lexington a solid waste assistance grant of $25,000 that will be used by the city for expansion of the city’s recycling program. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) awarded Choctaw County a solid waste assistance grant of $32,958 that will be used by the county for solid waste enforcement officer funding. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded Lamar County a $30,000 two-year waste tire grant to continue the local waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires. And, the county also received a solid waste assistance grant of $22,941 for their white goods collection program. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded Jefferson Davis County a $25,000 two-year waste tire grant to continue the local waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted water contact advisories for two beach monitoring stations on Thursday. Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. There are currently no stations across the Mississippi Gulf Coast under an advisory.The advisories have been lifted for:

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded Harrison County a $51,500 two-year waste tire grant to continue the local waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires. 

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has awarded the Pine Belt Solid Waste Management Authority a $146,970 two-year waste tire grant to continue the local waste tire collection program for small quantity generators of waste tires.
