Aluminum

Is there anything special I need to know about recycling aluminum cans in my community program?

One thing to remember – rinse them out! Flatten the can to save space in the collection bin. Finally, make sure the can is aluminum and not a steel (tin) can. This may not make any difference if the community program is collecting both aluminum and steel cans. To distinguish between aluminum and steel, take a magnet and put it against the can. If the magnet doesn’t stick to the can, then it is aluminum.
