The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisories for Waveland and Gulfport West Beaches.
Water samples at this station show the areas have reached acceptable bacteria levels. There are no beach water contact advisories on the Mississippi Gulf Coast currently.
Again, the ADVISORIES have been LIFTED for:
• Waveland Beach — the previously affected area is from Oak Blvd. east to Favre St. (Station 3)
• Gulfport West Beach — the previously affected area is from Marie Ave. east to Camp Ave. (Station 8)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
More information about the Mississippi Beach Monitoring Program and the location of beach sampling stations is available here.
