Rikard, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Robbie Wilbur November 3, 2017 601/961-5277 MDEQ Issues Advisory for Station 11 in Gulfport Station 15 Remains Closed (JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued a water contact advisory Friday for Station 11 (Gulfport East Beach). A closure remains in effect for Station 15 (Shearwater Beach in Ocean Springs). The advisory is issued for: •Station 11 — Gulfport East Beach — from Tegarden Rd. east to Anniston Ave. When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisory and the closure will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
