MDEQ issues water contact advisories for specific beach locations based on beach monitoring results. These advisories are intended to provide the public with current scientific information so individuals and families can make informed decisions regarding water activities.
MDEQ does not issue blanket “do not enter” orders, and advisories relate to water conditions only — not the beach or sand areas themselves.
The majority of Mississippi’s Gulf Coast beaches are not currently under advisory, and we encourage residents and visitors to continue enjoying our beautiful beaches. Current beach conditions are always available at beaches.mdeq.ms.gov.
