MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory

No Stations Under Advisory

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory for a beach monitoring station in Gulfport on Saturday. Water samples at this station show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels. There are currently no stations across the Mississippi Gulf Coast under an advisory.The advisor has been lifted for the following station:

►Station 9 — Gulfport Harbor Beach — from 20th Avenue eastward to Thornton Avenue.

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
