(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) lifted a water contact advisory that was issued on February 22, 2021, for a segment of St. Catherine’s Creek in Natchez.

The advisory was issued for the area that extends along St. Catherine’s Creek from Liberty Road to the Mississippi River (see attached map).  The two sections of the sewer lines that crossed St. Catherine’s Creek have been replaced and have ended the discharge into the river that required the water contact advisory.

MDEQ advises that it is now safe to engage in recreational activities such as swimming, wading, and fishing in these waters.
