MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory for Hontokalo Creek in Scott County

(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) has lifted a general water contact advisory issued May 30 for a section of Hontokalo Creek in Scott County.  The advisory included sections from an unnamed tributary of Hontokalo Creek to Hontokalo Creek north to where the creek flows under Highway 80, then Old Highway 80, and Ringgold Road (see attached map).  Water sampling by MDEQ staff indicates the water bodies have returned to normal levels.

MDEQ advises that people can now engage in water contact such as swimming or wading and can consume fish or anything else taken from these waters.
