MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisory

One Advisory Still in Effect

(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory on Tuesday. Water samples at this stations show the area has attained acceptable bacteria levels.

The advisory has been lifted for the following station:

►Station 3 – Waveland Beach (Waveland) – from Oak Boulevard to Favre Street.

There is also currently one other station in Gulfport remaining under an advisory:

►Station 8 – Gulfport West Beach – from Maria Avenue to Camp Avenue.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisory will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
