MDEQ Lifts Water Contact Advisories for Two Stations and Closure for One Station

No Stations Under Advisory

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted two water contact advisories Friday for the following beach monitoring stations:

●Station 7A — Long Beach Beach — from Oak Gardens Avenue east to Girard Avenue.

●Station 8 — Gulfport West Beach — from Marie Avenue east to Camp Avenue.

In addition, a closure has been lifted for:

●Station 5 — Pass Christian West — from Fort Henry east to Elliot Avenue.

There are currently no stations under an advisory across the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions.
