MDEQ Lifts Two Water Contact Advisories Three Advisories Remain in Effect

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted two water contact advisories Saturday for the following beach monitoring stations in Harrison County:

►Station 8 — Gulfport West Beach — from Marie Avenue to east end of Camp Avenue.
►Station 11 – Gulfport East Beach – from Tegarden Road east to Anniston Avenue.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have attained acceptable bacteria levels. The Gulf Coast Research Laboratory, which performs water sampling of the Mississippi Gulf Coast beaches for MDEQ, notifies the agency when an area returns to acceptable levels and safe conditions. There are currently no stations under an advisory.The following advisories are still in effect in Harrison County:

►Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach – from Fort Henry Avenue to Elliot Street.
►Station 10B – East Courthouse Road Beach – from Courthouse Road east to Tegarden Road.
►Station 12B – Biloxi East Central Beach – from St. Peter Street east to Dukate Street.
