The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted beach water contact advisories for Pass Christian East Beach and Long Beach Beach.

Water samples at the stations show that the areas have reached acceptable bacteria levels.

Again, the ADVISORIES have been LIFTED for:

  • Pass Christian East Beach — the affected area was from Espy Ave. to Hayden Ave. (Station 7)
  • Long Beach Beach — the affected area was from Oak Gardens to Girard (Station 7A)

Advisories remain in effect for the following beaches: Pass Christian West Beach (Station 5), Gulfport West Beach (Station 8), Gulfport Harbor Beach (Station 9), and Edgewater Beach (Station 11A). Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
