The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted beach water contact advisories for Pass Christian Central Beach, Gulfport Central Beach, and Gulfport East Beach.

Water samples at these stations show the areas have reached acceptable bacteria levels.

Again, the ADVISORIES have been LIFTED for: 

  • Pass Christian Central Beach — the previously affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)
  • Gulfport Central Beach — the previously affected area is from Alfonso Dr. to Arkansas Ave. (Station 10)
  • Gulfport East Beach — the previously affected area is from Tegarden Ave. east to Anniston Ave. (Station 11)

Advisories remain in effect for the following beaches:  Pass Christian West Beach (Station 5), Pass Christian East (Station 7), Long Beach (Station 7A), Gulfport West Beach (Station 8), and Gulfport Harbor Beach (Station 9). Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
