The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted a beach water contact advisory for Biloxi West Central Beach. Water samples in this area have reached acceptable bacteria levels.

Beach water contact advisories have been issued for Bay St. Louis Beach and Gulfport Harbor Beach.

The beaches are not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in these areas. When water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for contact, the advisories will be lifted.

An advisory has been lifted for:

  • Biloxi West Central Beach — the associated beach extends from Travia St. [approximately] to Iberville Dr. (Station 12A)

An advisory has been issued for:

  • Bay St. Louis Beach — The extent is from Box Culvert eastward to Ballantine St. (Station 4)
  • Gulfport Harbor Beach — The extent is from 20th eastward to Thornton Ave. (Station 9)

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
