Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a beach water contact advisory for Pass Christian Central Beach. Water samples show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels. One beach water contact advisory at Bay St. Louis Beach remains in effect.

The advisory was lifted for:

  • Pass Christian Central Beach — the affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)

An advisory remains in effect for:

  • Bay St. Louis Beach — the affected area is from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St. (Station 4)

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
