MDEQ Lifts Beach Water Contact Advisory in Pass Christian
One Advisory Remains in Effect

Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisory for Pass Christian East Beach. Water samples at this station show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels.

One beach water contact advisory remains in effect for Long Beach.

The beach is not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in this area. When water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for contact, the advisory will be lifted.

An advisory has been lifted for:

  • Pass Christian East Beach — the affected area is from Espy Ave. east to Hayden Ave. (Station 7)

An advisory remains in effct for:

  • Long Beach — the affected area is from Oak Garden Ave. east to Girard Ave. (Station 7A)

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
