Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisory for Gulfport East Beach.

Water samples at this station show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels. There is one beach water contact advisory in effect in Long Beach.

The advisory has been lifted for:

  • Gulfport East Beach — the previously affected area is from Tegarden Ave. east to Anniston Ave. (Station 11)

An advisory remains in effect for:

  • Long Beach — the affected area is from Oak Garden Ave. east to Girard Ave. (Station 7A)

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
