Jackson, MS – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a beach water contact advisory for Biloxi East Central Beach. Water samples show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels. Two beach water contact advisories remain in effect.

The advisory was lifted for:

  • Biloxi East Central Beach — the previously affected area is from St. Peter St. east to Dukate Street. (Station 12B)

Advisories remain in effect for:

  • Bay St. Louis Beach — the affected area is from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St. (Station 4)
  • Pass Christian Central Beach — the affected area is from Henderson Ave. east to Hiern Ave. (Station 6)

Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall.
