MDEQ Lifts Advisory for Station 11 and Issues Three Advisories

Five Others in Effect

(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, lifted a water contact advisory Friday for Station 11 (Gulfport East Beach). Three advisories were issued for Stations 9, 12A, and 12B, and five other stations remain under an advisory.

The advisory is lifted for:

  • Station 11 — Gulfport East Beach — from Tegarden east to Anniston Ave.

Advisories are issued for:

  • Station 9 — Gulfport Harbor Beach — from 20th Ave. east to Thornton Ave.
  • Station 12A — Biloxi West Central Beach — from Travia St. east to Iberville Dr.
  • Station 12B — Biloxi East Central Beach — from St. Peter St. east to Dukate St.

Advisories remain in effect for:

  • Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach — from Fort Henry Ave. east to Elliot St.
  • Station 7 — Pass Christian East Beach — from Espy Ave. east to Hayden Ave.
  • Station 7A — Long Beach — from Oak Gardens Ave. east to Girard Ave.
  • Station 10 — Gulfport Central Beach — from Alfonso Dr. east to Arkansas Ave.
  • Station 11A — Edgewater Beach in Biloxi — from Debuys Rd. east to Edgewater Ave.

When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisories will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
