MDEQ Issues Two Beach Advisories
Eight Others in Effect
(JACKSON, Miss.) – The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ), through its Beach Monitoring Program, issued two water contact advisories Saturday for Stations 10B and 11A. Advisories issued May 4 remain in effect for Stations 3, 4, 5, 7, 7A, 8, 9, and 10.
Advisories are issued for:
- Station 10B — East Courthouse Road Beach (Gulfport) — from Courthouse Rd. east to Tegarden Rd.
- Station 11A — Edgewater Beach (Biloxi) — from Debuys Rd. east to Edgewater Ave.
The advisories remain in effect for:
- Station 3 — Waveland Beach — from Oak Blvd. east to Favre St.
- Station 4 — Bay St. Louis Beach — near St. Charles St. — from the Box Culvert east to Ballantine St.
- Station 5 — Pass Christian West Beach — from Fort Henry Ave. east to Elliot St.
- Station 7 — Pass Christian East Beach — from Espy Ave. east to Hayden Ave.
- Station 7A — Long Beach — from Oak Gardens east to Girard Ave.
- Station 8 — Gulfport West Beach — from Marie Ave. east to Camp Ave.
- Station 9 — Gulfport Harbor Beach — from 20th Ave. east to Thornton Ave.
- Station 10 — Gulfport Central Beach — from Alfonso Dr. east to Arkansas Ave.
When water samples show that levels are safe for human contact, the advisories will be lifted. Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming not occur during or within 24 hours of a significant rainfall event.
