The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has issued beach water contact advisories for Pass Christian West Beach and Edgewater Beach.

The beaches are not closed; however, there may be an increased risk of illness associated with swimming in the areas. When water samples show that bacteria levels are safe for contact, the advisories will be lifted.

Again, ADVISORIES have been ISSUED for:

  • Pass Christian West Beach — The affected area extends from Fort Henry Ave. [approximately] to Elliot St. (Station 5)
  • Edgewater Beach — The affected area extends from Debuys Rd. [approximately] to Edgewater Ave. (Station 11a)

Advisories remain in effect for the following beaches: Pass Christian East (Station 7), Long Beach (Station 7A), Gulfport West Beach (Station 8), and Gulfport Harbor Beach (Station 9). Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
