MDEQ and EPA to Offer Community Air Permitting Workshop

(JACKSON, Miss.) — The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are sponsoring a free Community Air Permitting Workshop for the public on Thursday, July 31.  This workshop is part of MDEQ’s collaborative efforts with local officials, the public, and industry to address nuisance issues near the Bayou Casotte Industrial Park.

 

The event will begin at 8:00 a.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. at the Senior Citizens’ Center on 1912 Live Oak Avenue in Pascagoula.

 

The workshop will enhance the ability of local citizens to participate fully and meaningfully in MDEQ’s air permitting process.  The day’s sessions include information on the Clean Air Act, Title V permitting, the role of permitting and compliance, informational resources for citizens, and public involvement in the permitting process.
