The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the beach water contact advisory for Gulfport East Beach.
Water samples at this station show the area has reached acceptable bacteria levels. There are currently six water contact advisories in effect on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
Again, the ADVISORY has been: LIFTED for:

Gulfport East Beach — the previously affected area is from Tegarden to Anniston Ave. (Station 11)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
