The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, through its Beach Monitoring Program, has lifted the water contact advisories for Gulfport East and Edgewater Beaches.

Water samples at these stations show these areas have reached acceptable bacteria levels. There are four beach water contact advisories in effect on the Mississippi Gulf Coast currently.

Again, the ADVISORIES have been LIFTED for:
  • Gulfport East Beach — the previously affected area is from Tegarden Ave. east to Anniston Ave. (Station 11)
  • Edgewater Beach — the affected area is from Debuys Rd eastward to Edgewater Ave. (Station 11A)
Swimmers are reminded that the Beach Task Force has a standing recommendation that swimming should not occur during or within 24 hours of significant rainfall.
