Irrigation Summit Scheduled for December 10th in Stoneville

Delta area producer and landowners don’t want to miss the Dec. 10, 2014 Irrigation and Water Conservation Summit at the Capps Center in Stoneville, Miss. The event will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 3:20 p.m. Lunch will be served but no registration fee is required.
During the general sessions and breakout sessions, participants can expect to learn how to increase profit margins while conserving the region’s vital irrigation water supplies. During breaks, participants can visit with exhibitors to receive additional information and services for increased irrigation efficiency.
Of those exhibitors who will be at the event, Chicot Irrigation, Circle S Irrigation, Delta Irrigation and Supply, Irrigation Fittings, and Mid-South Water LLC each will be giving away a McCrometer flow meter. Attendees can learn more about McCrometer irrigation efficiency products, the new “free” Pipe Planner offer by Delta Plastics, and irrigation scheduling services offered by Wade, Inc.
Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) will be available to help participants in the voluntary metering program report their 2014 metered water use. Current voluntary metering program participants who bring their 2014 water use readings to the event can have them entered on site. In addition, MDEQ will answer questions and assist persons who want to install meters as a part of the voluntary metering program, which includes a 10 percent groundwater well metering goal in each Delta county by Dec. 31, 2015.
Producers who are interested in enrolling in USDA-NRCS programs are encouraged to stop by the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Joint Water Management District’s booth during the event to make sure current permitted well data is accurate. Any inaccuracies in this information may affect USDA program eligibility.
The Irrigation and Water Conservation Summit is hosted by the Governor’s Delta Sustainable Water Resources Task Force. It is free to producers, landowners, consultants, and natural resource professionals thanks to support from Chicot Irrigation, Circle S Irrigation, Delta Irrigation and Supply, Delta Plastics, Irrigation Fittings, McCrometer, Mid-South Water LLC, Mississippi Corn Promotion Board, Mississippi Rice Promotion Board, Mississippi Soybean Promotion Board, SWISH and Wade, Inc.
