Jackson, MS–Governor Tate Reeves and MDEQ Executive Director Chris Wells are pleased to announce that all eligible project applications submitted for the Mississippi Municipality and County Water Infrastructure (MCWI) Grant Program have been approved for funding.

“Our team is hard at work getting grant agreements ready for execution,” said Chris Wells, MDEQ Executive Director. “This is a much-needed boost to local infrastructure projects related to drinking water, wastewater and stormwater.”

Just under 500 projects were submitted to the portal in application rounds one and two. 130 of those projects were awarded in the first round of applications, and 359 applications were made in the second round.

The MCWI Grant Program was established by the Legislature and signed into law on April 26, 2022. Governor Tate Reeves signed legislation in March 2023 that increased the funding for the program by $41 million, ensuring that ALL eligible projects will be funded.

These MCWI funds are being administered by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. More information on the program can be found via links on the MDEQ website or directly at www.mswaterinfrastructure.com.
