REGISTRATION FOR ONLINE PUBLIC HEARING
ON PROPOSED EXPANSION OF THE NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL LANDFILL

Zoom meeting hosted by MDEQ Waste Division

An online public hearing will be hosted on Zoom by MDEQ to solicit public comments on the proposed modification and renewal of certain environmental permits for the Northeast Mississippi Regional Landfill (locally known as the Buck Run Landfill). The existing landfill is owned by the Northeast Mississippi Solid Waste Management Authority (Authority).

The applications submitted to MDEQ include the following permits: a solid waste management permit for the expansion and continued operation of the existing municipal solid waste landfill; a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for storm water runoff management; and a Title V air permit for the operation of air emission equipment.

To register to participate in the online hearing, please complete the following information and submit the completed information.

Registrants must enter their full name, email, and indicate if they anticipate speaking during the hearing.  Registration should be completed at least 2 hours prior to the start time of the public hearing. After registration, an email will be sent to the registrant with a link to the Zoom meeting. Interested persons should be able to participate through a web browser or through the Zoom application. Only persons that are registered will have the opportunity to make verbal comments during the hearing. Persons that plan to participate using a phone line for audio must register the phone number they intend to use during the meeting so that they may be identified and unmuted at the appropriate time to offer comments.

In addition, any interested person may submit comments in writing or by email at any time during the 30-day public comment process.
