Smoke School

VISIBLE EMISSIONS EVALUATION TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION SESSION (SMOKE SCHOOL), JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) provides a Visible Emissions Evaluation training and certification session (Smoke School) in April and October of each year.  Both first-time certification and recertification in EPA Test Method 9 will be available.  There is no fee for participating in the smoke school if you are a Mississippi resident, the employee of a Mississippi company, or are directly responsible for compliance with visible emissions requirements for a Mississippi company.  Smoke school participation is limited, but anyone interested in attending that does not qualify for free participation may contact MDEQ for information concerning cost and availability.

PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS!

All participants are required to register online for the smoke school by completing and submitting a registration form.  It is strongly recommended that registration be completed within 14 days prior to smoke school.

CLASSROOM ORIENTATION FOR FIRST-TIME PARTICIPANTS.

First-time participants or persons holding no recent certification must attend a classroom orientation session.

OUTDOOR FIELD CERTIFICATION.

All persons desiring to certify or recertify must attend the outdoor session which will begin at 8:00 a.m. on the following two days after the classroom orientation.  Persons certified at the previous school are required only to attend the outdoor session.
