• Basin Management Approach
  • The purpose of Mississippi’s Basin Management Approach is to protect and restore the quality of Mississippi’s water resources. This is done by developing and implementing effective management strategies that address water quality issues.
• Triennial Review of Mississippi’s Water Quality Standards
  • MDEQ is required by the Clean Water Act to routinely review and update the State’s water quality standards through a process known as the triennial review. A public comment period and a public hearing were conducted in late 2015 for the triennial review of the Regulations for Water Quality Criteria for Intrastate, Interstate, and Coastal Waters (11 Miss. Admin. Code Pt. 6, Ch. 2). Comments to the proposed revisions were solicited by MDEQ from October 1, 2015 through November 5, 2015. A notice of the public hearing and comment period was published in five newspapers across the state. The public hearing was held on November 5, 2015 at the MDEQ office at 515 East Amite Street in Jackson, Mississippi.
